Programs for Peaceful Living

WAGAP’s Program for Peaceful Living provides Klickitat County residents with Domestic Violence Prevention, Sexual Assault Prevention, and General Crime Victim services. Certified staff are available 24/7 to work with individuals and families that are struggling with the effects of crime through advocacy, counseling, parent support, and safety planning. We offer crisis support, medical advocacy, legal advocacy and court support, assistance with protection order forms, support groups, information and referrals. We provide prevention to the community through outreach and education.

Services are available and delivered to clients without discrimination by reason of race, color, religion, disability, pregnancy, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, age, ethnicity, income, veteran status, marital status or any other basis prohibited by federal, state, or local law.

All services are confidential. All services are free.

What is Domestic Violence?

Domestic Violence is a violent confrontation between family or household members involving physical harm, sexual assault, or a reasonable fear of physical harm. The confrontation may include physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse or spiritual abuse.

The family or household members involved in the violence may include:

  • spouses

  • former spouses

  • those in (or formerly in) a dating relationship including homosexual couples

  • adults who are related by blood or marriage

  • adults who have a biological or legal parent-child relationship

What is sexual assault?

Sexual assault is any unwanted sexual behaviour that makes a person feel uncomfortable, threatened or scared.
